Exodus Roundhouse
This is a scratch-built structure.
Harold modeled this after the general design of a Scale Structures kit that was too small for his needs.
Construction
The two main walls of the roundhouse were built up using two layers of Upsom board. Sheet styrene by Holgate & Reynolds with a stone pattern was added to the walls. A brick pattern was used for the interior walls. Window cutouts were constructed as building progressed. Similar wall sections were constructed for the front and rear walls. All parts were prepainted befroe being assembled on the layout. Work pits were constructed and painted before the wall sections, doors, and windows were added. The last step was the installation of the interior trusses and supports were fit to the wall sections. A partial roof and it’s associated details were used to better show off the interior detail on this model.
Detail
Most of the detail was added at the construction phase. Walkways on the front and rear of the building were the last items to be installed in the detail phase. As time goes on, people will continue to be added, as well as finishing the ground cover.
Conformity
This roundhouse generally followed the plans that were adapted for the space available. All parts except the windows, doors, and roof vents were scratch built to fit into the design.
Finish
All parts were airbrushed using Floquil paints during the construction phase. Acrylic paints were used to weather the structure.
