Santa Fe Freight House


This is a scratch built structure using sheet styrene and strip wood.

Construction

The main wall sections were constructed using .060 thick styrene with strips cut and added to simulate board and batten construction. Loading platforms were made using strip wood. Roof was made of .032 plywood added to roof structure without regard to lighting. Roll roofing was added and painted to complete construction.



Detail

Most detail is in the board by board construction of the loading platforms. A little roof detail, a few people, and some shipping crates finish the scene.

Conformity

This structure follows the general design and color of many buildings found along the right-of-way on the Santa Fe lines.

Finish

The finish was airbrushed using Floquil paints. Weathering was applied using acrylic paints.

Scratchbuilt

Structure is scratch built using sheet styrene and strip wood.
