This is a scratch built structure using sheet styrene and plywood.

Construction

The main shell structure was fabricated using Northeastern Clapboard Siding, .060 thick. The dock area was made using strip wood. After the walls were completed, Grandt Line windows were installed. The roof (made from .032 plywood to minimize the effects of warping) was built as a sub-assembly and then covered with simulated rolled roofing. Extra detail, such as people, dock clutter, and the lightning arrestor, were added after the building was installed on the layout.

Detail

Windows and glazing, people on the loading dock and additional roof detail was added to complete the basic structure.

Conformity

This structure represents a rather large fabrication and storage facility. It features some interesting architectural detail, such as the tower and the enclosed stairway at the front of the structure. Appearance is common in most parts of the country.

Finish

The finish was airbrushed using Floquil paints. Weathering was applied using acrylic paints to complete the structure.

Scratchbuilt

Structure is scratch built using commercially available wood products. Building was designed by Harold Shelton.
